A typical day on your Little Roads Itinerary in Ireland might look something like this:

You wake up at your lodging after a good night’s sleep…
You sit down for a Full Irish breakfast – eggs, three kinds of meats, Irish brown bread, potatoes, tea or coffee or juice. (We recommend several places just because of their fab breakfasts; some are included in the room price, and some are add-ons.)
After breakfast, you get in your car for a leisurely little drive - maybe 30-45 minutes, tops, depending on how many times you want to stop to take an award-winning photo of the landscape. You arrive at a nearby point of interest: the ruins of an ancient abbey, a lakeside walk, an iconic Round Tower, another quaint small town. (You might make two or even three such stops; your schedule allows time to linger, or room to skip ahead.)
You may or may not want lunch (Remember that Irish breakfast? Your stomach does!), but we always have suggestions for whole food, delicious, light lunch-stops on your route.
After lunch, you meander towards another site (or sites) we suggest. Only if you feel like it - there’s no hurry!
You work your way back to your town and your lodging. You take a little rest, then you head out to the streets of the town, for a people-watching stroll, a pint in a pub, a little shopping at local bookstores or artist’s shops.
Dinnertime rolls around; you indulge in a fantastic meal at an excellent gastropub, where you try to determine who has the best Guinness stew or seafood chowder or local mussels or brown bread or flaky fish and chips.
Enjoy one last walk before bed, maybe popping into a local pub or two to see if live music is on.
Sláinte!

Note: Typically we endeavor to place our clients in each lodging for 2-4 nights, so they aren’t in a constant state of packing/checking in/unpacking. Some days will look different because they will include wine tastings, cheese tours, cooking classes, visits to thermal baths, or other scheduled activities. Every itinerary we plan is sent in a Google Doc format, so you always have the most recent version; and it includes loads of pictures – ones we took with a smartphone, so you know what it actually looks like, and it’s not some magazine fantasy. We also include links to every lodging/restaurant/site, so you can read more about each place as you wish.

To illustrate just a bit of what we do for our clients, here’s an overview of a trip that we designed recently:

Jennifer, Joseph, and Jake : Traveled to IRELAND, September 2023 - 11 days, total lodging cost: €1300

This was a trip for a group of three friends headed to Ireland. They had a private two-hour visit with our favorite hawk and owl guide who will let them fly and feed several birds of prey; they ate at gastro pubs all over the island; they toured the world’s oldest operating lighthouse; they visited castles and abbeys, and a church of the Knights Templar; and they shopped in Ireland’s oldest woolen mill. They also saw the famous cliffs of the West - the Cliffs of Moher, and our preferred nearby and free alternative, where there are no tourists at all.

They stayed in pubs with rooms, small family-run B&Bs, and boutique hotels. Their rooms averaged about $124/night, with a full Irish breakfast in the morning. For almost everyone, eating a full Irish breakfast means eating lunch is nearly impossible, so the room price effectively also counts as covering one meal, especially when we organize our clients to eat incredible food at gastro pubs every evening.
